Bending Branches®. Precision hand crafted hardwood kayak paddles .

Enjoy the comfort and warm, soft feel of a wood kayak paddle. The precision with which agriculterally-grown hardwoods are hand-crafted into beautiful, lightweight and durable paddles that take years in perfecting.

In the age of mega corporations, Bending Branches remains a small, privately held company in Northwestern Wisconsin made of paddling enthusiasts.

Bending Branches makes beautiful, durable, comfortable paddles for beginners to experts.

Bending Branches guarantee paddles against manufacturing defects for one year from date of purchase.

Bending Branches has pioneered a proprietary process of bonding ultra-durable urethane to tips of our wood canoe and kayak paddles. The feature is called "Rockgard®"

The tip of every Bending Branches paddle is protected with Rockgard; a specially developed and extensively tested impact resistant resin designed by Bending Branches to extend the life of the paddle and the looks too. This Wrap-Around™ technology puts Rockgard protection around the corners of the paddle. This impact-resistant technology reduces and sometimes eliminates wear and tear and damage from rocks, debris and water. The tip may occasionally dent but will not damage the integrity of the paddle nor separate from the paddle and it will not absorb moisture.

Caring for Your Wood Paddle

Paddles perform well in the winter but paddlers should avoid extreme cold. To ensure a long life for your paddle you should avoid wedging, levering or twisting your paddle tip between rocks, logs or other obstacles.

Your paddle won't need any special care except to protect it from the elements between trips. If the finish of the paddle does become scratched or worn through, you can repair it. Rub the area with a fine grit abrasive until it is smooth and dull. Apply two or three thin coats of solvent (not water based) outdoor or marine grade polyurethane. Rube lightly with the fine abrasive between coats for a better finish. When the last coat is dry you are ready for the water! If the wood is damaged, sand the area aggressively with 100 or 120 grit sandpaper to smooth the wood and remove the discoloration. Treat the sanded area with 3 or 4 coats of polyurethane as described above. If the job is more than you can handle, we will repair it for you for a small charge.
