The latest addition for onerous occasion to watch the usual seepage in expensive equipment in 2009 is the Sanyo Xacti VPC-CA9, a vertical pocket camcorder with the Xacti shape of a pistol a grip. It features a 5x optical zoom lens and it is waterproof to the IPX8 standard, a certificate based on the JIs C 0920 guideline that swears that the camera may be submerged down to a depth of 1.5 meters for 60 minutes.
The Sanyo Xacti CA9 has a 2.5” LCD monitor, a 60x digital zoom and records standard 720p HD allowing users to snap 9-megapixel still images with the reverse sequential photo function that begins to capture photos as soon as the button is pressed.
The Xacti CA9 measures 70×41×111mm and weighs 249 grams, records to SDHC memory cards up to 7 frames per second sequential shooting with a 3D DNR noise-reducing function for clearer videos. It is sold at 329.99 pounds sterling in black, red and green colours
However the submersion capabilities Sanyo warns users of moisture and condensation when in cold locations or in areas with high temperatures or humidity.

It might be a little late coming out. Sanyo Press Office volunteered to send me one to review and use in some filming. At the last minute they switched to an old CA8 because the CA9 pre-production models had teething troubles. They sound great, but wait and see...
