Thursday, August 6th, 2009. Norsamik masikkut.
When practicing Greenland recoveries for the chance of an Unfortunate Episode where the paddle is lost, entangled in harpoon lines or quietly munched by a sea lion, one should keep in mind that it is conduct unbecoming any serious Inuit hunter not to fetch his little wooden harpoon propulsor and roll for dear life.
So, in spite of the view of many an abbrasive yachty for whom Greenland rolling may demonstrate a certain instability of the mind, yesterday I scorned the crude advice to seek an eminent nerve specialist, and kept on trying. As a result, while pursuing the highest laurels of forward finishing rolls, I succeeded with the Norsamik masikkut where the roll is done with the norsaq, starting and finishing splendidly tucked forward, as well as with the Norsamik kingukkut, where the norsaq sweeps from stern to bow, and the only Inuit reenactor in town rises with manly elegance, from the surface nicely tucked aft.
I encourage all my associates in the Yacht Club to try and do likewise.
By the way, yachties perspire profusely.
